The Hedonist On A Screen Near You

Hello,
As many of you may already know our video for “The Hedonist,” has been live on Youtube for about a week but did you know that we have been added to the MuchLoud TV station as well? People with Satellite TV Boxes be warned! In all seriousness, I’d like to thank Kerry, the crew all of our friends who came out to help us make this video shoot happen!

So what’s our take on the video? Well, I can’t speak for everyone but I feel it’s a great example of juxtaposition – the band versus the revelers.

Cheers!

Complicate Things Video

Back in September we filmed a performance music video for our second single, Complicate Things (as remixed by Harry Hess) under the direction of filmmaker, Sammy Ray Welch. Well, after the burning of many midnight oils we are glad to finally present to you the final cut of this video. The video features all five members of PAPERMAPS jamming live to the track (yes, we had the amps going during the performance and it was LOUD in that shipping hanger).

We hope you enjoy it.  Expect some “behind the scenes” photos soon!
If you like the remix of this song, you can get it on iTunes here:

Reunion Video Posted!

Hi There!

Some of you might have noticed we have posted our “official” video for Reunion on YouTube!

Papermaps – Reunion (Official Video)

This is the “official” video for our first single, Reunion. It’s totally homemade (or rather fan-made) except for the fun (read silly) stuff we did in our rehearsal space. We asked fans to send us clips of themselves answering the question: If you could send a message back in time to yourself at age 16, what would you say? As it turns out, a lot of people showed interest in the project, most people had ideas about what to say and a few people actually got up the nerve to submit a clip. Nonetheless, we took what we thought were the best clips and cobbled together this video with the help of video Editor Chris Minns and Jay Sad.

This video is dedicated to all the BRAVE SOULS who submitted a clip! THANK YOU!

BTW: Feel free to do your own video responses! We might do an “update” in the future.

Another detail you may have noticed is that we have a 5th member!  Please welcome Betty Dimo (Bass Guitar/ Keys / Vocals) to Papermaps!  We will be talking more about Betty (and updating our bio and pictures) in the very near future!  In fact, we have many exciting things to report for October!  This will all get covered in the next post!

Until then

Cheers!

Be in the Reunion Video (part II)

Heya,

Our friends at CBC Radio3 did a live call-in interview with me (Dean) just the other day on LANARAMA. There are some great ideas for “messages sent back in time to your 16 year old self in the comments of Lana’s blog post.  Check it out:

http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/blogs/2011/7/Today-on-Lanarama-A-Message-to-Your-Teenage-Self

Remember, you can send your submissions to my email : ex.po.dean (at sign) gmail (dot com) either as an attachment (if less than 10 meg) or via a site like https://www.yousendit.com/

We only need a few more submissions to complete the video.  To all those who have already participated we want to  say THANK YOU! To all those who are thinking about it we want to say, THANKS and what are you waiting for? We hope to see your beautiful faces sooner than later!

Cheers,

-dean

Be In The Reunion Music Video!

Hello Beautiful Friends,

Papermaps are putting together a video for our song “Reunion,” and we need your help. The video will be comprised of a series of short clips of people holding up signs that answer the following question:

If you could send a message back in time to yourself at age 16, what would you say?

The answer could be anything. It can be funny/serious/deadpan/crazy/sexy/goofy/cute — anything! Just make sure it’s something you’re comfortable sharing publicly.

We hope you’ll take part! It’s simple enough — here’s a sample video to show you what we’re looking for:

Some Guidelines:

– Please make the videos 20 to 30 seconds long — the clips will display in the final product for about a quarter of that time, but 20 second clips will give us more flexibility during the editing process.

– Make sure there’s enough light that we can see your beautiful faces!

– Landscape orientation only, please (not portrait).

– Record in HD if you can, but it’s not necessary iPhones/Androids/Webcams, etc. work fine — just use the highest res and show your best side!

– Try to choose an interesting background. Maybe on the streetcar, or at a show or a party. Or anywhere. You can get another friend involved too, as long as we can see your smiling faces and your messages.

– Write your message in thick black marker on an 8.5″x11″ sheet of paper. Make sure the writing is nice and big, so people can read it.

– When you’re done, you can send the clip  (10 meg or smaller) to me as an attachment ex.po.dean (at sign) gmail (dot com).   Or you can send it to me via yousendit.com

or upload the video to the following FTP site:

ftp://ftp.filmhouserecordings.com/incoming

user name: anonymous

(no password)

Please rename the file with something useful (like your name) so that it’s not MVI_65764.avi or some junk like that.

If you know someone who likes the music and might be interested, please pass this along!

Questions? Write me at ex.po.dean (at sign) gmail (dot com).
