Tuesday Happenings #6 — Album out Today!

Well . . . here we are . . . the final instalment of Tuesday Happenings.

Today is the official release date of our self-titled debut album as Papermaps.  That means stores across Canada will  get their copies today.  Slowly but surely (over the next few days) those records should get put in the bins (somewhere between  Papercuts  and Pavement) or even racked (as they say in the music biz).  If you are a record store stocking our record, let me take this opportunity to thank you! If you are not (but want to) you know where to get it.

Item 1: Virtual Ink
Today we are featured on Alan Cross’ very excellent and influential Explore Music site:

And the super keener blog, Panic Manual reviewed our record today (and are giving away free passes to our CD Release Party on April 29 at Sneaky Dees):

And we just love the review by our friends at Buying Shots for Bands:

Item 2: Radio, Radio
I did my first on-air interview (a phone in) with DJ and MD,  Rob Grant over on the very excellent West Coast station 103.5 FM  The Bridge. Man was I nervous!  In other big news, Todd called me up to inform me that he heard our song Reunion on the CBC One! Sure enough, they tweeted it  – – so a big thank you to our friends at the CBC!

A new show has been added to our spring tour: Saturday April 30, APK Live, London.

Item 2: The  latest papermaps review was written by  excellent writer Barbara Bruederlin.  The review appeared both on her awesome blog, Bad Tempered Zombie as well as the very esteemed  No Depression website.  Although No Depression focuses on Traditional, Country, Roots and Blues-based music (which we have some elements of, but would not neatly fit into) the good people there, nevertheless, featured the review on their landing page for at least 24 hours (which was very, very cool of them).  This may be a historical first for usage of the  term shoegaze on No Depression. Read Barbara’s fine review here:

Item 3: The latest radio station to spin papermaps is  CFOU 89.1 MHz – Trois-Rivieres. Merci beaucoup!

Item 4: Last (but not least) the first official single from papermaps, our song entitled, reunion is available on itunes TODAY!  Here’s the proof: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/reunion-single/id427843024
